Our new cycle routes are up and running ready for 2010.

Details of our 7 night - 6 day cycling package.

Your holiday includes:

Day 1 ARRIVAL

Pick up from Bangor or Holyhead Station or Anglesey Airport, and taken to your accommodation, fitted out with bikes and accessories ready for your cycling holiday.  Or if arriving by car, you will be taken to a safe parking area before being transferred to your accomodation.  

Day 2  BEAUMARIS TO BENLLECH  (26 miles)

Today's ride takes you along country and coastal B roads for most of the journey with only one short ride along the main road.  It incorporates part of the official Telor  Cycle route.

Start at Beaumaris, passing through Llanfaes and Llangoed villages,  Lleiniog Castle onto to Penmon Priory and Penmon Point (lighthouse).

From Penmon go uphill and inland to the village of Landdona. (You have the option here to go down to the beach but it's a  very steep hill to return to Llanddona). Continue to Pentraeth and Red Wharf Bay, a lovely hamlet for a picnic or stop for refreshment at either the Ship Inn or the Boathouse.  Continue inland to Llanbedrgoch and nature reserve then back down to the coast finishing at Benllech

.Day 3  BENLLECH to CEMAES (23 miles approx) 

Start whereLLYN ALAW RESERVOIR, CYCLING ANGLESEY, WALES UK you finished yesterday following Hebog official cycle route to Marianglas.

Pass Llanallgo Cemetery (historical church where Royal Charter Shipwrecked victims are buried), then onto Din Lligwy ,a 2nd century AD settlement and church.

Down to the fishing village of Moelfre and Seawatch Centre.  Back along road to Lligwy Beach and Coastal Path, (following Hebog Route) onto Brynrefail.   This is where you go inland and uphill to Bodafon passing St. Michael's Church and lake.

Downhill to Y Parc following signs for Llyn Alaw Lake, the largest lake on Anglesey . Onwards to Carreglefn village and down towards the sea ending at Cemaes.

Day 4 CEMAES TO HOLYHEAD  (28 Miles)

From Cemaes heading along the north coast turning down to Cemlyn Nature Reserve and Bird Sanctuary.  Uphill to Llanfairynghornwy then down to Church Bay and Swtan (the only thatched cottage remaining on Anglesey).

Follow the coast and inland to Llanfaethlu turning towards Llanddeusant.  Follow signs tor Melin Llynnon Mill, an interesting place for a respite. Onwards to Bodedern passing Presaeddfed Burial Chamber back towards the coast to Valley and Stanley Embankment which leads into Holyhead and the official No. 5 Cycle route ending at the Celtic Gateway at Holyhead port.

Day 5  HOLYHEAD TO RHOSNEIGR (26 miles)

Cycle from your B&B to the Breakwater Park (visitor centre and cafe) following signs for South Stack lighthouse.  Uphill passing Hut Circles to official lighthouse car park and visit to Elin's Tower (RSPB)  This area is a bird-watcher's paradise.

Downhill to Porthdafarch and Trearddur Bay.

Continue to Rhoscolyn beach, an ideal stop with fascinating views, before continuing to Four Mile Bridge and Llanfair yn Neubwll and official cycle route 8.

Cycle around RAF base perimeter to Towyn and if it takes your fancy stop at the official Viewpoint to watch the planes training.

Continue to Llanfaelog, finishing at Rhosneigr. 

Day 6  RHOSNEIGR TO LLANGEFNI (24.5 Miles)

Leave RhosneigMALLTRAETH TO LLANGEFNI - CYCLING ANGLESEYr for Llanfaelog and onto Bryn Du down to Aberffraw - a lovely village on the west coast where the Welsh Princes used to reside.

Continue along beach road to Malltraeth.  Charles Tunnicliffe famous for his images of wildlife used to live in Malltraeth and most of his work was created at the estuary here.  Onto the embankment at Malltraeth heading for the forest at Newborough.  You have an option of taking a divertion onto the Llanddwyn Beach and island,(dedicated to Saint Dwynwen, the patron saint of Welsh Lovers) but you must return to the forest to join the official Lon Las Cefni route which will take you directly to Llangefni.

 

Day 7  LLANGEFNI - BEAUMARIS (approx 24 miles)

From Llangefni take the Lon Las Cycle Route to Pont Marquis and onto to Llangaffo.  Head for the mountains directly in front of you ending at the edge of the Menai Straits and Sea Zoo, an ideal place to stop to see the marine life that can be found on the island's shores. Inland to Llanddaniel crossing the road for Llanfairpwllgwyngyll (the village with the longest name). From Llanfairpwll take the back roads back to Beaumaris where it all started.

Day 8 - Departure
